Obituary for Robert Lee Van Horn
OFDA Past President
Robert Lee Van Horn, CFSP, 78, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at The Lakes of Sylvania.
He was born September 22, 1944 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to Bernard S. and Inez F. (Fullerton) Van Horn.
Bob was a Funeral Director/Embalmer having worked 36 ½ years for the former David R. Jasin Funeral Home in Toledo’s Point Place Community, retiring in 2007. He was a 50-year member of OFDA (Ohio Funeral Directors Association), where he served on the Board of Directors for 10 years and was Past President 2004-2005. Bob was also an OFDA Mortuary Response Team Member since 1990 and was activated during the 9/11 attack. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Harbor Light Lodge # 746 FFAM. Bob also enjoyed being involved in law enforcement.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Van Horn; sons, Shawn (Carmen) Van Horn and Evan (Melissa) Van Horn; grandchildren, Mason (special friend Rachel), Keenan (Kyla), Cameron (Brooke), Jacob, Brody, and Arianna Van Horn; and great-grandson, Henry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Spear, grandson, Duncan Van Horn, and “Bro” Lee Van Horn.
Visitation will be Friday, August 18, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, (5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, Ohio 43611). Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church (4703 N. Summit St, Toledo, Ohio 43611) where Bob was a member, Pastor Jeff Bunke, presiding. There will be an hour of visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Bob will be laid to rest in Lake Township Cemetery.
