Preneed Recovery Fee Changes Monday, July 1

ARPPS Q2 Reporting Also Opens July 1

As previously announced, the State of Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors (Board) conveyed a Preneed Recovery Fund fee reduction effective July 1, 2024. 

Beginning July 1, 2024, the required fee for each new preneed funeral contract sold in the state will be reduced to five dollars. Funeral homes will continue to remit this fee to the fund through quarterly reporting to the Board’s Automated Reporting and Preneed Payment System (ARPPS).

Filing for the ARPPS mandatory reporting and submission period for the second quarter opens July 1; Q2 is April 1 through June 30. This will be the last reporting period with the $10 preneed recovery fee.

To access the ARPPS portal, click here. Be sure to submit your Q2 2024 filing by August 30. Under Rule 4717-08 of the Ohio Administrative Code, the Board identifies the key reporting dates for the Preneed Recovery Fund.
