Obituary for Marilyn A. Bartek
Mother of Julia A. Sullivan, Funeral Director at Schoedinger Funeral Service
Marilyn A. Bartek (née Hronec), aged 81, passed away surrounded by love at her home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, enveloped in the compassionate care of New Life Hospice. Born and raised in Lorain to the late Andrew and Ann Hronec (née Scasny), Marilyn's life was a tapestry of dedication and joy in her community.
A proud alumna of Lorain High School, Class of 1960-B, Marilyn's career spanned various roles, including a tenure at the Gas Company, and later, invaluable contributions in retail with SuperK and in Food Service at Mercy Health Hospital, where she retired after 14 years of service. Her zest for life took her on journeys across the United States, including memorable visits to Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
Marilyn's commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation at St. Vitus Church and later at St. Peter Parish, where she was a cherished member of Parish Council and coordinated the Parish Blood Drive for several years. Her life was a testament to her faith and the values she cherished.
Yet, Marilyn's most cherished role was that of a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived and will be profoundly missed by her children: Julia A. Sullivan, Catherine B. Woskobnick, and Andrew P. (Teresa) Bartek; her adored grandchildren: Sgt. Jeffrey A. Sullivan, U.S. Army, Charles D. Woskobnick, and Jordan L. Sullivan; and a close-knit circle of friends and cousins who she held dear.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Dovin Reber Jones Funeral Home, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain, with Rev. Craig Hovanec officiating. The procession will commence at the church that morning, followed by interment services at Ridge Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to organizations dear to Marilyn's heart, El-Centro, 2800 Pearl Ave., Lorain, OH 44055, Lorain County Urban League Inc., 200 Middle Ave. STE 200, Elyria, OH 44035 and Mercy Health New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
