Obituary for Marie L. Birchfield

Mother of James C. Birchfield, Owner of Birchfield Funeral Home

Marie Lucille Little Birchfield, 89 of Rutland, OH passed away peacefully at Overbrook Rehab Center, Middleport, OH, Friday, December 2, 2022.

Marie was born April 13, 1933, at Harrisonville, OH to the late Russell McClelland Little and Pearl Elizabeth Wyatt Little, she worked as a school cook for Meigs Local Schools. She was a 1951 graduate of Rutland High School, member of Rutland Church of Christ, a Charter member of both the Rutland Friendly Garden Club and Rutland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, past board member of Rutland Civic Center Board, Meigs T. B. Board, served as Rutland Village counsel member, and member of the Red Hats Society..

Marie is survived by three children, James C. Birchfield, Robert L. (Teresa) Birchfield, and Kimberly S. (Ray) Willford, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Marie was preceded by her husband Howard C. Birchfield which she married August 8, 1953, a sister Sandy Spridik and brother Rusty Little.

Services were held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 1 pm at Birchfield Funeral Home, Rutland, OH with Pastor Chad Dodson officiating. Burial followed at Miles Cemetery, Rutland, OH, beside her husband and parents. In lieu of flowers donations to the Meigs County Cancer Initiative, P. O. Box 85, Pomeroy, Ohio 45769.
