Father of Anna Bernfeld, Senior Vice President of NFDA Member Services

David Bychkov, 83, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family at Zilber Hospice in Milwaukee, WI.

Born on May 6, 1941, in Berezino, Belarus, to the late Sima Rodova and Joseph Bychkov, David's life was shaped by the extraordinary events of history. He was just six weeks old when WWII erupted on Russian soil. While his father joined the Army, David and his mother fled their hometown to ensure their safety. After the war, they returned to Berezino briefly before moving to Kaliningrad, where David spent his formative years.

At eighteen, David began his military service, stationed for three years in Kamchatka. He later pursued higher education at the Moscow Institute of Chemical Machinery, graduating in 1971. His career as a chemical engineer focused on innovative solutions to combat metal corrosion, reflecting his dedication to progress and problem-solving.

In 1981, David emigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Milwaukee, WI. For more than three decades, he worked at First Wisconsin Bank, where his hard work and sense of humor left a lasting impact.

An avid finance enthusiast, David found joy in books by Dave Ramsey. Known for his lively investment advice and book recommendations, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. David’s adventurous spirit led him to explore many countries, while in his later years, he enjoyed daily walks, appreciating life’s simple pleasures.

With a sharp wit and infectious humor, David brought joy to all who knew him, recounting engaging stories from his remarkable past. His genuine nature made him a friend to everyone he encountered.

He is survived by his children; Anna Bernfeld (William) and Yan Kleeman (Amy), whom he shared with his former wife and lifelong friend, Dinna Kleeman. He adored his granddaughter, Rachel Bernfeld, and further survived by his brother, Yevgeniy Bychkov (Tatiana). He was preceded in death by his parents, Sima and Joseph.

Services will be private. His final resting place will be at Forest Home Cemetery next to his mom.
