Michael Anthony Tomon, a dedicated community leader, devoted family man, and owner of Tomon & Sons Funeral Homes, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
A man of deep love and devotion, Mike shared 50 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Terry (nee Chock). Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. He was the proud father of Mike (Lauren), Ashley (Alex) DeFeo, and Cody (Shanna). His greatest joy was being Dzia Dzia to Benjamin & Olivia Tomon, Noelle, Reese, & Winston “Boomer” DeFeo, and Harley & Kai Tomon, each of whom he treasured. Cherished son of the late Bert A. & Frances T. (nee Kolezynski). Beloved brother of Barbara Campbell (Arnold) Marcus. Loving brother-in-law, uncle, and cousin to many.
As a third generation owner and operator, Mike proudly carried on the 111-year-old family business, where he was a licensed funeral director for 50 years, offering comfort and care to generations of families in their times of need. His dedication extended beyond his profession—he was a respected community leader who served as President of the Middleburg Heights Chamber of Commerce, was the City of Middleburg Heights "Business Person of the Year" in 1996, helped found the Middleburg Heights Big Creek Run, and was honored by the city with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, for his tireless efforts in bettering the community. When Mike had any free-time, you would find him running or biking throughout the MetroParks, firing up his charcoal grill, or cheering on his kids and grandkids at various sporting events. An avid Cleveland pro sports fan, Mike instilled his fan fever passion for the Indians/Guardians, Cavs, and Browns in his family.
Mike lived a life filled with purpose, kindness, and an enduring commitment to those around him. As we honor his memory, we find comfort in his favorite sentiment: “Celebrate me home.” His spirit will forever live on in the lives he touched, the community he served, and the family he loved beyond measure. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. John Cantius Church, 906 College Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113, on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11 AM. Interment Brecksville Cemetery. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Tomon & Sons Funeral Home, 7327 Pearl Rd (S. of Bagley Rd.), Middleburg Hts., OH 44130, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1 to 6 PM., where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in his honor.
