Myron “Roger” Walker, 81, of Cape Coral, FL., formerly of Napoleon, OH., Cincinnati, OH. and Pittsburgh, PA. passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his home.
Mr. Walker was born on June 17, 1943 to Myron A. and Violet M. Walker. He attended Adrian College earning a Bachelor’s degree in science. He then moved on to post graduate education at the University of Cincinnati. He was one of the founding charter members of the First Church of Christ in Napoleon. He was also an avid Steelers fan.
Roger was a former Dean of Students at Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. He was a professor of anatomy, embalming and mortuary science at both Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science; until, he retired in 2013.
Roger had many honors and awards for his hard work in his field. He often had public speaking engagements to share his wealth of knowledge. He was also known for teaching eye enucleation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Roger was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Marie Walker of Cape Coral, FL. and Shelley (Dean) Mitchell of Knoxville, TN.; Six grandchildren, Justin, Amanda and Jonathan Morhardt and Lauren, Zachary and Victoria Mitchell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his brother, Rex (Barbara) Walker of Napoleon, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Violet Walker.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Walker-Hoening Mortuary (333 W. Main St.) of Napoleon from 2pm to 3pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3pm. Mr. Walker will be laid to rest privately, at Forest Hill Cemetery of Napoleon. Pastor Ben Sheaffer will be officiating the services. Memorials in Roger’s memory may be considered to Hope Hospice, Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science (P.I.M.S.) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
