Obituary for Kathleen Ann Hartman

Wife of E. Lynn Hartman, Owner of Hartman Sons Funeral Home

Kathleen Ann Hartman, 77, died at St. Rita’s Hospital, Sunday, August 7, 2022. She was born August 23, 1944 in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Anne (Tutich) and Joseph Vanatsky. Her father, Joe, died in WW II two months before Kathy was born. She married Edward Lynn Hartman on January 29, 1964.

As a young girl, Kathy lived in Warren, but soon her mother moved to Warrensville Heights, Ohio, where she attended and graduated from Warrensville Hts. High School in 1962. As an undergraduate she attended Ohio University, after which she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the Ohio State University. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Dayton. 

Kathy loved children and dedicated her life as a kindergarten teacher in Columbus Grove. She then became a gifted education teacher, and later worked at the Educational Service Center as a Gifted Education Coordinator. She was instrumental in promoting educational opportunities for the children of Putnam County by writing grants and working with teachers in all of the Putnam County school districts.

Kathy was an excellent cook and passed many treasured recipes from her family on to her children. She was an avid gardener who especially enjoyed growing roses. During her free time you would find Kathy at Lake George spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren who brought her great joy.

Kathy was a devoted wife to her husband of 57-years Edward Lynn, mother to her four daughters, Mary Lee (Steve) Ipock (Wilmington, NC), Amy Beth (Troy) Lamar (Indiana PA), Kelly Lynn (Christopher) Rapp (Copley, OH), and Carrie Ann (Scott) Johnson (Toledo, OH), and grandmother to Morgan Caroline Ipock (Wilmington, NC) and Addison Paige Ipock (Durham, NC),  Ashlee Elizabeth Lamar (Manhattan, NY) and Jordan David Lamar (Indiana, PA), Reed Edward Rapp (Copley, OH), Maya Lynn and Zoey Kathleen Johnson (Toledo, OH), and sister to Regina (Greg) Johnson (Hinsdale, IL).

Friends were to call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 11:00 am, the Pastor Rich Rakey presiding. Calling hours are available one hour prior to the service on Thursday as well. Burial to follow in Truro Cemetery.
