Legislative Update

HB 426 has passed out of the House and Senate and is waiting for the Governor's signature. The bill will become effective 90 days after being signed. The principle purpose of HB 426 is to authorize any person to designate an agent to be in charge of their disposition and increases from $5000 to $9000 the amount of funeral and burial expenses that are preference items in the probating of an estate.
