Online Reviews: How to Get Good Ones and Fix the Bad Ones

Summary

Essentially nothing is more important today for a local funeral home than to ensure it has a pristine online reputation. Excellent community standing has always been critical for funeral home success, and online reputation now is just as important as "offline" word of mouth. To achieve this, a funeral home absolutely needs excellent online reviews and lots of them. Quantity is arguably more important than quality: It's better to have 100 reviews, even if they're not all five stars than a handful of perfect reviews. Welton Hong explains exactly how funeral directors can generate many more positive reviews in a respectful, thoughtful way. He also covers how to mitigate the damage of negative reviews, how to deal with fake reviews, and which review sites are most important for success.

Program outline:
• Why funeral homes need online reviews
• Reputation and SEO benefits of getting lots of positive reviews
• The key review platforms to focus on (Yelp, Google, Facebook)
• Dealing with Yelp's particular characteristics (its prohibition on direct review solicitation, its aggressive review filter)
• How to generate more positive reviews (personal requests, automated processes)
• How to mitigate negative reviews and how to get fake reviews removed

Learning Objectives
1: Understand why both review quality and quantity are needed
2: Learn how to encourage positive reviews while being respectful of families
3: Learn to deal with negative and/or fake reviews (and the frustrations they produce)
4: Understand ways to automate review generation

Business Benefits
1: Superior reviews prompt families to choose your business over competitors
2: Better-reviewed businesses get prime search display on Google
3: Funeral homes with excellent online reputations see increased website conversions
4: Average profit is higher for well-reviewed funeral homes
