Obituary for Mary Kathleen “Kay” McGorray

Mother of Mary Susan McGorray, Funeral Director at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Homes

After reaching her goal of living to her 97th birthday on Sunday, June 12th, Kay passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, on Monday June 20, 2022. She worked diligently through health setbacks and navigated safely and gracefully through the uncertainties of the pandemic over the past 18 months to be able to offer the blessing at her granddaughter’s wedding ceremony and to finally meet her first great grandchild.

Beloved wife of the late James W. McGorray, Jr. Dear mother of Kathleen (Bob Soffer), Nancy Cullen (Aipa), Mary Susan, Mark, Ellen Boyle (Mike), Juliana Capuano, and Rob (Judy). Loving grandmother of Alana Uta (Justin) and Hinano Cullen; Diane Capuano Knight (Kyle) and John Capuano; Seamus, Declan, Emmett and Brogan McGorray; Ian (Jane), Evan, Emma and Marlee (Matt Turell) McGorray; and Andrew (Julie), Katie and Tricia Gauntner. Great-grandmother of Laura Grace, Lucas and Damien Uta. Dear sister of the late Bob Bixler (Moni) and Rita Duffy (Dick). Dear aunt and great-aunt to many. She is survived by, and thrived for so long because of, the great friends, neighbors, caregivers, church, CFM (Christian Family Movement) and PEM (???)* members she met along her way.
