Obituary for Ronald Lee Kercheval

Retired Funeral Director and Former Owner of Jackman-Kercheval Funeral Home

Ronald Lee Kercheval, of Harrison, Ohio passed away February 19, 2019, at the age of 79. Ron was born in Dayton, Kentucky on October 26, 1939 to Arthur William and Virginia Lee (nee Bratton) Kercheval. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1961. In 1962, he married Judith A. Rapking, and together they were blessed with two sons. Ron was an active member of the Harrison United Methodist Church from 1966 – 1998. He also served 20 years at the Harrison Fire Department until October of 1990 when he retired as Assistant Fire Chief. Ron also served as an Arson Investigator for Hamilton Co. for 10 years. He was the owner of Jackman-Kercheval Funeral Home in Harrison from 1975 until 1992. Ron served as a President of the Greater Cincinnati Board of Funeral Directors, and took pride in his work. 

Those left to cherish is memory are his wife: Judy Kercheval; his beloved children: R. Scott Kercheval, W. Curtis Kercheval, and Peggy (Bill) Westerfeld; his grandchildren: Justin (Sarah) Westerfeld, Shawn (Abby) Westerfeld, Emily Kercheval, Brianna & Bryden Kercheval, and Tyler & Leah Kercheval; his great-grandchildren: Mayson, Morgan, Chase, Camdyn, Avery, and Graham Westerfeld; sister in laws: Karen Yuhas and Marie Kercheval; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Ron is preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Virginia Kercheval; his siblings: Robert Kercheval, JoAnn Redding, and Bob Yuhas. 

Visitation was held at Brater-Winter Funeral Home and Burial followed at Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, Ohio.
