Obituary of Roger Keith Harper, Jr.

Brother and Brother-in-law of Robert and Robin Harper, Funeral Directors and Owners of Harper Funeral Home

Roger Keith Harper, Jr., 77, of Apple Valley, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus from complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born August 27, 1941 in Barnesville, a son of the late Keith and Winnie Pugh Harper. Roger was a 1964 graduate of Muskingum College and was employed for 27 years by NCR as Director of Human Resources in both their Cambridge and Dayton offices. He was a Kentucky Colonel and an avid horseman who also enjoyed time volunteering as a coach and Indian guide as well as his involvement with the Cambridge Jaycees. Roger served on the Board of Directors of Knox Energy. Surviving are his devoted wife of 55 years, Sharon Kay Blaine Harper; a son, Timothy John “TJ” (Julie) Harper; five grandchildren, Heather Raquel (James) Murphy, Tanner Blaine Harper, McKinzie Lauren Harper, Kylie Sloan Harper, and John Keith Harper; two brothers, Bob (Robin) Harper and Jon Jay (Tina) Harper; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a son, James Allen “Corky” Harper. Visitation was held Thursday, September 20 at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville from 11:00 am until time of a memorial service at 12:00 noon. Inurnment followed in Bush Cemetery near Malaga. Roger's family would like to thank the Critical Care Staff of Mount Carmel West ICU for the exceptional care he received.
