Perry George Allen, Jr.

OFDA received word this morning that Perry George Allen Jr., age 82, of Naples, Florida passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2006. Mr. Allen was the father of funeral director, Kennith Allen of Hughes-Allen Funeral Home, L.P. in Marion.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 26, 1924 to Perry G. Allen, Sr. and Marion (Bailey) Allen. Perry was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and upon his discharge, enrolled at the University of Toledo where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and married the former Shirley Stem. From that union came two children. He moved his family to Genoa, Ohio in 1958 and became involved in the community where he was a past-president of the Genoa Kiwanis Club and one of the founders of the Girl's Softball Leagues.

After enrolling and graduating from Bowling Green State University, he spent most of his working career in the toy and hobby industry and was also a substitute teacher in the Genoa School System. In 1979 he married the former Margaret Sheffer and they resided in Port Clinton until moving to Florida to make their home in Naples. Surviving are his two children; Kennith Allen of Marion and Michelle Landis of Findlay, his two grandchildren; Jeffrey (Angie) Allen of Delaware and Nicole (Keith) Cox of Marion and his two great-grandchildren; Gavinn Scheff and Kaitlynn Cox.

Private family services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio on January 10, 2007.
