Notification of Death - Emil J. Golub

December 25, 2006

OFDA received word this morning that member Emil J. Golub, 89, of Cleveland, died December 25, 2006 after a long illness. Born December 4, 1917, in Monessen, PA, he moved to Cleveland in 1937 where he lived his whole life, and raised his family. His greatest joy was helping families deal with the loss of loved ones. He was a mentor and father to his children and grandchildren. Mr. Golub started the Golub Funeral Home in 1945 where he lived and worked.

Mr. Golub is survived by his wife, Helen; children: Karla Golub-Sodnicar (Frank), Janice Bechler (Michael), and Paula Burkitt (Gene); grandchildren: Janel Hartwell, James Golub Strmac (Ronda) and Sharie Renee; great grandchildren: Michael and Carly Strmac. Deceased relatives are his sisters: Louise Goetz-Savage and Katherine Koenig.

Friends may call from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 31 and 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, January 1, 2007 at the Golub Funeral Home, 4703 Superior Avenue, Cleveland. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 10:00 am St. Paul Croatian Church. Please meet at the Church.
