According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, an active shooter is "an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area." Almost half (44%) of all incidents occurred in areas of commerce. And, over 60% of incidents ended before law enforcement arrived. To help minimize the impact of a workplace shooting and violence in the workplace, companies and individual employees must take steps to plan and prepare.
