Obituary for Ronald C. "Rod" Watters

Father of Bruce Watters, Watters Funeral Home

Ronald C. "Rod" Watters, 87, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Wayne, Ohio on July 18, 1929 a son of the late Chalmer and Vanda Clapper Watters.

He was a former co-owner of Marple & Watters Sohio Service Station for 21 years and retired owner of Watters Oil Well Service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War.  He was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 5303, Woodsfield, Ohio; a 60 year member of Monroe Lodge #189 F. & A.M., Woodsfield, Ohio and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #2247, Woodsfield, Ohio.

He enjoyed pumping his oil wells and watching his grandson playing baseball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Watters and a sister, Gladine Hoiles, twin sisters, Zelda and Zelma Watters.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline Haffner Watters whom he married on January 27, 1979; two sons, Ryan (Cecile) Watters of Woodsfield, Ohio, Bruce A. Watters, his companion Jessica Lumbatis and her son Ashton of Jerusalem, Ohio; one sister, Joyce Marple of Woodsfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Kara Watters and fiancé Alex Cork, Brayden Watters, Braxten Watters; five nephews; former daughter in law, Joy Watters of Woodsfield Ohio; and special family friends, Adam, Tiffany, and Abbi Hesson.

Friends were received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 where funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 with Chaplain Herb Alexander of Medi Home Hospice officiating. Burial followed in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Ozark, Ohio with full military graveside services.

Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
